TelecityGroup Supports Amazon Web Services AWS Direct Connect in Europe
Dedicated network connection to Amazon Web Services (AWS) enables flexible cloud solutions with lower costs, improved performance and increased bandwidth throughput
11 January 2012: TelecityGroup, one of Europe’s industry-leading providers of premium carrier-neutral data centres, today announced that AWS Direct Connect is now available in its London Docklands data centres.
Located in TelecityGroup’s premium Docklands facilities in London, AWS Direct Connect enables companies to establish a dedicated network connection from their private or managed infrastructure to AWS. By connecting directly into the platform, AWS Direct Connect customers can build flexible cloud solutions with reduced network costs, increased bandwidth throughput, and a more consistent network experience than internet-based connections.
Effective immediately, customers in TelecityGroup’s Sovereign House, Meridian Gate, 6/7 Harbour Exchange and 8/9 Harbour Exchange data centres in London can establish dedicated connections to AWS. Customers with equipment located in other TelecityGroup facilities, or in their own office or data centre, can also enjoy low-latency, cost-efficient connections to AWS via the choice of over 400 carriers available in TelecityGroup data centres.
“With this important expansion of AWS Direct Connect into the UK, we are glad that TelecityGroup customers can now choose to have a dedicated connection to AWS,” said Terry Wise, Director of Business Development for AWS. “This creates yet another compelling option for businesses to consider when architecting production applications in the cloud.”
Adriaan Oosthoek, Country Manager UK & Ireland, TelecityGroup comments: “The launch of AWS Direct Connect in Europe provides new opportunities for our customers, enabling them to build flexible solutions that utilise the elasticity and economic benefits of AWS alongside their existing infrastructure. Our data centres are already thriving digital ecosystems, providing direct access to a wide choice of connectivity options, key internet exchange points and cloud hubs. Working with Amazon Web Services furthers these options for customers substantially, and ensures TelecityGroup continues to be the data centre of choice for organisations looking for the widest possible choice of networks and connectivity options.”
ABOUT TELECITYGROUP PLC
TelecityGroup is the leading provider of carrier-neutral data centres in Europe, operating highly connected facilities in key cities.
These data centres are the places in which separate networks that make up the internet meet and where bandwidth-intensive applications, content and information is hosted. As such, they are the key network hubs, or enabling environments, of the European digital economy. TelecityGroup’s customers take advantage of the highly connected facilities to run, store, share, distribute and access digital media, IT applications and information effectively and efficiently.
TelecityGroup has an unrivalled multi-year announced capacity expansion programme in Europe. Capacity expansion is ongoing in all of the Group’s key markets. This provides its growing customer base with visibility as to how their needs for capacity can be met into the future. This is important to many of the Group’s customers as their needs for scalable capacity are expected to grow due to macro trends, such as the emergence of cloud computing, whereby an increasing amount of IT infrastructure is being migrated towards centralised, highly connected data centres.
In addition to organic investments, TelecityGroup aims to make acquisitions within Europe, either for the purpose of entering new markets, or to provide growth capacity in existing markets where its data centres are fully occupied.
Telecity Group plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: TCY).
