Next Generation Mobile Alerts Solution Allows Rapid Origination and Delivery of Geo-Targeted Alerts for Commercial and Public Safety Use
BARCELONA, SPAIN, Feb 27, 2012 – Mobile World Congress, Hall 8, Booth 8C115 – TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology, today announced the international availability of its turnkey standards-based Mobile Alerts Solution that enables the origination and delivery of geo-targeted emergency alerts over multiple technologies through the use of mobile broadcast technology. This solution includes an authoring tool that enables third parties to originate commercial content — such as enterprise notifications, traffic, news and coupons — for broadcast to mobile subscribers on an opt-in basis. The highly secure TCS solution features multiple alert authenticity checks built into the process of alert origination.
The turnkey standards-based Mobile Alerts Solution supports Common Alert Protocol 1.2, the international next generation emergency alert standard, and allows government entities to more quickly and easily issue emergency alerts to a mobile operator’s subscribers in geo-targeted areas. By utilizing this international standard, mobile operators are able to tie directly in to a government’s existing alert stream that may already be used with radio and TV broadcast mediums.
