ANNAPOLIS, MD, Oct 14, 2010 — TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology today announced its participation as an invited partner at the Innovation-Transformation Summit 2010 sponsored by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. in Shenzhen, China on October 11th and 12th. TCS demonstrated its Xypoint(R) LBS Solutions in the event’s Exhibition & Experience Center.

ABI Research forecasts that global LBS carrier revenue will grow from $2.6 billion in 2009 to $13 billion in 2013. To this end, TCS’ products and services support Huawei’s ability to offer best-in-class location solutions so that its carrier customers may tap into the emerging LBS market.

Drew Morin, chief technology officer for TCS stated, “TCS has an established track record of delivering innovative LBS solutions to wireless operators for more than a decade, and we were honored to be included in this invitation-only forum to demonstrate our proven location-based services to their customers.”

The Xypoint LBS Solutions demonstrated by TCS included:
Gateway Mobile Location Center (GMLC), which coordinates activities to ensure that a location is obtained and returned to the requesting application;
Serving Mobile Location Server (SMLC), used for determining the coordinates of a handset based on network measurements;
Secure User Plane Location (SUPL) servers, which support Assisted-GPS precise location determination, enabling commercial services for applications that require precise positioning (e.g. Navigation, Workforce Locator, Family Locator); and
Location Services Gateway, which serves as the interface between the LBS platform components and LBS applications using standards based communication protocols, and provides privacy, authentication, authorization, and transaction assurance

With Xypoint LBS Solutions, operators enable network and handset based locations services which drive data ARPU and connected device revenues.

TCS has delivered world-class LBS solutions to more than 50 wireless carrier networks in North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. TCS was the first to demonstrate the use of location technologies in support of emergency services, deploying the first wireless E9-1-1 solution in the United States, and was the first company to deploy a commercial precise location infrastructure in Europe to support UMTS. TCS has provided proven precise location technology for in-network deployments or via world-class hosting solutions, employing different business models and pricing methods to adapt to customers’ specific needs.
