ANNAPOLIS, MD, Oct 11, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) — TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology, today announced that Chief Executive Officer, President and Chairman of the Board, Maurice B. Tose, has been elected to the Board of Directors of CTIA-The Wireless Association(R). CTIA is an international nonprofit membership organization that has represented the wireless communications industry since 1984. Mr. Tose will serve one year as the “Other Supplier” representative beginning on January 1, 2011.

Mr. Tose founded TCS in 1987, and under his leadership the company’s commercial business now supports location and messaging technologies that are used in 14 countries by 57 network operators, including all the U.S. tier-one carriers. Prior to founding TCS in 1987, Mr. Tose was the Director of Department of Defense Programs for Techmatics, Inc. Mr. Tose graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in operations analysis after which he served on active duty in the United States Navy for eight years, three and a half of which were as an instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy. He retired from the Navy Reserve as a commander after 30 years of combined active and reserve service, and remains involved with his alma mater including service on the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation board of directors. He also serves as a member of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Communications Security, Reliability, and Interoperability Council (CSRIC) and is a member of the Maryland Governor’s International Advisory Council.
