Order Supports Global Broadcast Service
ANNAPOLIS, MD, Oct 21, 2010 — TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology, today announced that it has been awarded additional incremental funding of $1.6 million from the U.S. Army to provide Transportable Ground Receive Suites and related spare parts to support the Global Broadcast Service (GBS). This award was made under the Army’s $5 billion World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicle in support of the Project Manager for the Warfighter Information Network – Tactical (PM WIN-T).
GBS is a high-speed, one-way satellite data communications broadcast capability that transmits information directly to warfighters. In support of GBS, the Transportable Ground Receive Suites (consisting of a Broadcast Manager, a Next Generation Receive Terminal and cryptographic equipment), substantially enhance the situational awareness capabilities of the US Army by extending the real-time tactical content available to its mobile force.
