Telefonica names Grey Juice Lab exclusive content provider for its market leading VOD services

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA, February 4th, 2015 – Grey Juice Lab, a global expert in content for multiscreen TV and on demand solutions, has been chosen by Telefónica as content aggregator for its video on demand (VoD) services in Argentina and Chile.

Grey Juice Lab will provide the telco giant with movies from the most important Hollywood studios, as well as independent production companies, children’s content and adult movies for its market leading On Video service in Argentina and Movistar Play in Chile. Several movies will be available within a few months of theatrical release with Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, the new Minions movie, Terminator and Taken 3 coming in the next few months.

In order to maximize the content’s value, marketing services will play a key role in the promotion of new release titles available each month. Grey Juice Lab will also provide Telefonica with those important marketing services, as well as content processing, quality control and editorial services.

Julián Rodríguez Montero, Director of Content Acquisition for Telefónica Group said, “We were looking for an aggregator which could both offer the best content possible and also take care of all the needs for the operation.  We found in Grey Juice Lab the perfect partner, thanks to its flexibility and expertise in this market”,

Gustavo Castro, head of Content and Agreement for Telefónica Argentina said: “Grey Juice Lab has proved its expertise in the operation of on demand services.  Its contribution is key in constructing a high quality service for our users”.

Telefónica Argentina is the market leader with its On Video service with over 80k subscribers and in recent months has launched Lite, a service that allows all of its Speedy broadband users to rent movies from any device connected to internet. Telefónica Chile is growing with its Movistar Play service, which also offers paid TV (Movistar TV) in a very competitive market.

“We are really excited to be working with Telefonica on these great services. High quality content plays a crucial role in providing a high service level to subscribers and these two services do exactly that,” Mihai Crasneanu, CEO of Grey Juice Lab said. “However, content aggregation is not just about negotiating content agreements or ingesting movies. It’s also about getting the operational side right and Telefonica understands that. We have gained a lot of experience and operational excellency over the years which we’re really happy to be bringing to Telefonica.  We look forward to a long and successful partnership with them.”
