Madrid, 26th april 2011.- Telefónica International Wholesale Services (TIWS) has been awarded the Best WorkPlaces certification by the Great Place to Work consultant, an international quality standard identifying the best places to work from the worker’s point of view.

Telefónica International Wholesale Services is among the 50 best companies to work in Spain and obtained the 9th place in its category (companies with 250 to 500 employees).

The consultant grants this qualifications regarding a model based on five pillars: Credibility: leaders who delegate, transmit confidence, care about the employee, respect him and allow a good work-life balance; Fair treatment: equity and equality with 55% of women in staff; Pride: full satisfaction and commitment at work; and Team spirit: feeling good produces personal satisfaction and improves results.

The survey in TIWS Spain, with a participation of 78%, reveals that 8 out of 10 employees trust their managers and enjoy their workmates, and 9 out of 10 feel proud of the job they do. Moreover, 76% of the staff feel like they are receiving a fair treatment from their managers and 85% is convinced that TIWS is an excellent Place to Work.

The results obtained by Telefónica International Wholesale Services are based, to a large extent, in the working environment, the benefits they enjoy, like medical insurance or pension plan, among others, and in the set of initiatives carried on, like international rotation programmes, learning programmes, etc.

We want to inspire and involve them – she said – make them feel that their work is more than just a job. We care about their motivation, their daily work problems and we care about their relationship with other employees. Telefónica International Wholesale Services has since several years ago its own employee satisfaction survey in the 30 countries where it is present. This survey shows the commitment of the company to offer its employees the best experience and to gather the proposals to improve working environment. The last satisfaction

survey registered a record of participation with 84% and very good results, like a global satisfaction index of 78,8 %.

The results offered by the Best Workplaces list are independent and are based in an employee-focused methodology. The analysis process is made of the Trust Index survey for the employees, which means 2/3 of the global punctuation of the process, and the Culture audit, a corporate culture analysis made by the Human Resources department meaning the remaining 1/3 of the punctuation.

A Great Place to Work is where the employee trust the people he works for, feels proud of what he does and enjoys the people he works with.
