Telefónica to Transform Quality Assurance and Testing Services
with NTT DATA

London, UK, 10 October, 2013NTT DATA, the global IT innovator, has been appointed the Test Partner for Telefónica UK to help transform the operator’s Quality Assurance and Testing (QAT) services. The three-year contract will improve testing efficiency as well as operational capability and flexibility, allowing Telefónica to offer an excellent customer service and keep pace with customer demands.

In an increasingly competitive market, mobile operators are required to continually deliver new and innovative solutions as well as excellent customer service across all channels.  QAT plays a vital role as efficient, yet thorough, testing of new digital services helps reduce problems experienced by customers upon roll-out. Telefónica UK’s customers will benefit from improved agility, quicker time to market and continued investments in new techniques and processes leading to a better overall experience.

Colin Cunningham, Head of Service Experience, Telefónica, and Al Sabet, Service Test & Validation Manager, Telefónica, commented: “The Quality Assurance teams are the guardians of the great customer experience we strive for, and so are an essential part of the process. Our aim is to keep our customers and their businesses connected 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Strong QAT helps iron out any potential problems and reduces any downtime experienced by customers.”

Following a formal RFP process, Telefónica appointed NTT DATA as the strategic test partner for the UK. The new contract aims to deliver on a vision of NTT DATA Quality 360 – a quality framework across the entire software life-cycle – and builds on the success of current software application QAT projects at Telefónica UK. NTT DATA also impressed with their network testing capabilities in Italy and Vietnam, and benefited from group experience in rolling out 4G services in Japan.

NTT DATA will provide testing services in both IT and network areas in the first stages of the project, with the aim of moving to a fully managed service progressively. Testing services will be delivered through a combined onsite, offshore and near-shore model, drawing on the most relevant skills and offering a combination of improved effectiveness and cost savings.

Simon Williams, Head of Telco & Media at NTT DATA UK added: “In the fast moving telco space where customer churn can be a problem, it’s so important to be able to deliver new services that offer a fantastic experience right from the start. This partnership will see us draw on our team’s experience in the testing space to help Telefónica transform QAT and continually improve overall customer satisfaction.”
