Telefonica Vivo Launches Wireless IPTV Service Using Cisco Set-Top Box

São Paulo, Brazil, August 7, 2014 – Telefonica Vivo, a major service provider in Brazil, has selected the wireless Cisco® IPTV set-top box for its Vivo TV Fibra service without the need to run cables to the TVs of its customers. The service provider announces the new solution at ABTA 2014 trade show in Brazil.

With a solution composed by the Cisco set-top box ISB 7105 and the current 5Ghz Wi-Fi data gateways used by Vivo, it will offer a model that may make easy its installation and shift of TV point at home.

The ISB 7105 series is a high-performance and cost-effective family of HD set-top boxes, including the latest integrated Wi-Fi technology for wireless IP access.

“The use of Cisco Wi-Fi IPTV set-top box will bring great benefits to our customers. In addition to the cleaner and wireless installation, we bring to the customers the flexibility to shift the TV point to anywhere they want without the need to call a technician service”, says Rafael Sgrott, director of Video, Telefonica Vivo.

“By allowing IPTV video services to be installed without the need of cables, it is possible to increase the team productivity, reducing costs to the service provider”, says Rodrigo Dienstmann, president of Cisco in Brazil.
