Telehouse Paris Data Centres attain Carbon Trust Standard

– First data centre to attain CTS for its international operations –

17th July 2012, LondonTelehouse, the leading provider of global data centres and managed ICT services, has achieved the Carbon Trust Standard (CTS) accreditation for its three French-based data centre facilities; Telehouse Paris

Voltaire, Telehouse Paris Jeûneurs and Telehouse Magny-Les-Hameaux.

The announcement builds on the successful certification of its four London data centres last year and reinforces Telehouse’s commitment to cutting its carbon footprint across its global operations.

According to market research firm Pike Research the data centre industry currently accounts for 1.5 per cent of the world’s energy consumption, with this figure expected to double by 2020. As a result of this European enterprises are actively being driven to achieve greater levels of energy efficiency through emerging legislative programs and standards. One such standard is the CTS.

The CTS is a rigorous, independent assessment, which certifies that an organisation has measured, managed and reduced their carbon emissions across its own operations, and are committed to reducing it year-on-year.

Telehouse’s two London sites were originally CTS certified in February 2011 after dramatically improving carbon efficiency across the business by 12 per cent, relative to turnover. The latest achievement demonstrates Telehouse’s continual drive to improve carbon efficiency across its entire European operation.

According to Olivier Caron, Operations Director from Telehouse Paris, “The certification provides the proof that we as an organisation are taking action to reduce our carbon footprint. Securing the CTS provides us with a platform and benchmark to ensure the business is reviewing its energy efficiency activities on a continuous basis. In turn, this can lead to huge benefits to our customers hosted across all our London and Paris data centres including cost savings. As a result Telehouse is now one of the first organisations to achieve the CTS certification on an international level.”
