Telenor Satellite Broadcasting Offers Advanced Services with New SatLink® Hub from STM
– STM Group, Inc. has announced today the installation of a fully redundant SatLink Hub 9400 LE by Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc), which will provide services with two forward links from a new location in Cyprus. With the new hub, TSBc will be able to offer the latest in satellite communications technology.
The new location in Cyprus allows TSBc to offer expanded coverage of the Middle East region with important quality-enhancing features from STM, such as Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), which intelligently adjusts modulation parameters to compensate for varying weather. Other features of the SatLink hub include support for up to 500 VSATs, increased bandwidth efficiency with Adaptive Carrier Selection (ACS), advanced MF-TDMA resource control, and extensive bandwidth management tools assuring no wasted resources in the network.
“TSBc appreciates the continuous advancements STM is making with its SatLink platform,” said Jan Hetland, Director of Datacomms Systems at TSBc. “Our SatLink Hubs provide the flexibility and reliability that we need to remain attractive to our customers.”
TSBc is building its offering of SatLink technology, with their large teleport in Nittedal, Norway already providing services through another SatLink hub with three forward links. The hub is continually being updated with the latest upgrades from STM.
“STM is pleased to provide TSBc with the advanced technology available with SatLink Hubs,” said Bjorn Platou, VP of European Operations at STM. “With features like ACM and ACS, TSBc will be offering high quality communications services to its customers.”
The SatLink Hub 9400 LE is a member of the SatLink family of products and systems from STM enabling scalable, high-availability DVB-RCS networks including: broadband VSATs, Hub Systems, and Hub components with value-added options for advanced data, voice, and video networking via satellite.
