For several years the participants of the famous ING New York City Marathon have been registering using the portal, developed by Telesens and its American partner, Avologic Inc. This Marathon is held annually by New York Road Runners (NYRR) at the beginning of November and is one of the biggest sport events of the year.

Registration for the ING NYC Marathon 2011 has begun already a day after this year’s race. The number of participants registered during the first few hours was several times greater than the same indicator last year. The reason for increased activity of the marathoners – in addition to the growing popularity of the competition – is a new service, advertised prior to this year’s event. This service, supported by Telesens’ solution, provides an opportunity to apply for participation in the race using mobile devices.

Since 2008 Telesens has developed a number of services for NYRR that improve the quality of communications between the hundreds of thousands of people involved in the activities of this organization (such as competition participants, spectators, and sponsors). Telesens solutions include race registration systems, intranet customer care portal, notification systems, e-stores, lotteries, charity donation system that involves many runners and their supporters and aims to help kids worldwide, as well as other applications.

More than 47 thousand participants took part in the 41st ING NYC Marathon, which was held on November 7th, 2010; about 45 thousand runners successfully reached the finish line. In the runners category the overall men’s winner was Ethiopian Gebre Gebremariam with a time of 2:08:14. In the women’s category, Kenya’s Edna Kiplagat came in first with a time of 2:28:20. Representatives of Ukraine participated in the race for the second time: Andrii Onistrat with a time of 2:45:59 and Konstiantyn Lebediev with a time of 3:26:50.
