Nokia Siemens Networks provides consulting services and network optimization to move operator to all-IP network

Professional consulting services and network optimization from Nokia Siemens Networks have freed-up half of Telkomsel’s existing IP capacity for use in future network and service developments. Telkomsel, Indonesia’s largest telecom operator, now has a clear view of its IP assets across all network domains, and can also track how well these assets are used. The operator selected Nokia Siemens Networks to gear up for an all-IP network transformation, and to support efficient LTE services in the future.

“Telkomsel has been looking at minimizing the investment needed to evolve to all-IP operations and services. This involved a number of challenges including the fact that different parts of the network had grown independently and were not optimized to work together. Nokia Siemens Networks identified improvements, which will not only allow us to better utilize our IP assets but also improve our customers’ experience. We are now on a clear path to making our IP architecture compatible with new technologies such as LTE,” said Sarwoto Atmosutarno, President Director of Telkomsel.

“Nokia Siemens Networks’ consulting led approach is holistic and involves understanding the specific market and customer challenges that impact the operators’ business,” said Ashwini Bakshi, head of Managed Services and Consulting and Systems Integration at Nokia Siemens Networks. “We evaluate operators’ existing infrastructure and provide seamless and secure integration of new broadband technologies and services that support a broad set of voice, data, and video applications to provide an exceptional end user experience. Based on our survey, we provided insight and recommendations to Telkomsel to help the operator transform to a fully IP-enabled network, in line with its five-year business plan, by simplifying its complex IP infrastructure and maximizing existing resources.”

Nokia Siemens Networks’ thorough survey of Telkomsel’s entire network revealed over 2000 IP elements across its network domains. The company’s experts measured current performance, and recommended optimization work to use Telkomsel’s existing assets more effectively, and improve the user experience. The report identified structural network changes that would enable better use of existing resources, freeing up extra capacity for use in future projects.

The resulting network would be simpler, helping Telkomsel use just half of the IP elements in the previous set up to deliver effective and quality services. The remaining 50% of the company’s IP assets can be used to help Telkomsel make the transition to all-IP operations in the future. Nokia Siemens Networks also identified improvements to boost the quality of experience for end users and asset utilization for the operator.

Nokia Siemens Networks’ consulting led IP Transformation service solutions are part of the company’s Total Expertise approach for business transformation that enables operators to adapt to ever changing market expectations and customer demands quickly and efficiently.
