TELKOMVISION SELECTS ERICSSON TO

ENHANCE QUALITY TV SERVICES IN

INDONESIA

·         Greater channel capacity for Indonesian pay-TV offering

·         Enhanced choice and picture quality for subscribers

·         Ambitious goals for growth in Indonesian market

TelkomVision, the pay-TV service provider in Indonesia, has chosen a number of Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) solutions for the deployment of new TV services as it looks to provide greater value and quality for its subscribers across the country. The Ericsson system will enable TelkomVision to launch new channels across its satellite platform, and provides provision for HD services in the future.

“We are extremely ambitious about accelerating the growth of our subscriber base and are therefore looking to deploy advanced services that are unique and attractive to viewers,” said Elvizar KH, President Director, TelkomVision. “Pay TV is becoming more widespread throughout Indonesia, but in order to ensure further uptake, we must provide the greatest value possible. Ericsson’s solutions enable us to do just that – we can offer more channels than ever before, at even greater quality than viewers are used to. In addition, we now have the infrastructure to support the introduction of HDTV in the future. We’re delighted to take advantage of Ericsson’s experience in enabling advanced TV services around the world.”

TelkomVision, which currently has 200,000 subscribers in Indonesia, has selected a system comprising the Ericsson Video Processor Chassis (VPC), EN8130 MPEG 4 AVC encoders and MX8400 multiplexers. The resultant bit-rate savings enable TelkomVision to roll out 36 new channels to its subscribers at optimum quality.

“With such a large capacity for growth in the Indonesian market, pay-TV operators must ensure they are equipped for rapid increases in demand, and with that, higher expectations for quality services,” said Staffan Pehrson, Vice President and Head of Solution Area TV, Ericsson. “TelkomVision’s growth plans require powerful, reliable systems to be in place that ensure it can continue to offer greater value to new and existing subscribers. Ericsson has a long-established history of providing next generation TV systems throughout the Asia Pacific region and the rest of the world, and we are pleased to provide TelkomVision with the solutions it requires as it builds upon its service offering.”
