Telstra International launches Telstra Global Telepresence services across international network

05 January 2010 Telstra International, a leading global supplier of managed network and hosted services, announced today the launch of its Global Telepresence solution, helping businesses across the world to reduce their travel costs and carbon footprint, whilst increasing employee productivity.

Utilising Cisco TelePresence™ products, Telstra International’s solution provides state-of-the-art high-definition video conferencing throughout more than 40 countries worldwide. Harnessing Telstra International’s high-capacity Global IP Virtual Private Network (IP VPN), Telstra Global Telepresence solution provides superior performance and Quality of Service, helping to ensure low latency and reliable video conferencing on an intercontinental scale. The flexible solution is tailored to meet individual requirements, from solo-user units for executive offices, to dedicated suites that seat up to 14 participants.

Telstra International’s Global Telepresence service has been configured to support the ‘in the same room’ experience, with high-definition screens providing colourful, life-size images of meeting attendees. Designed with ease-of-use in mind, the solution offers full Microsoft Outlook® and Lotus Notes® integration, which means booking a Telstra Global Telepresence suite is as easy as inviting someone to a meeting.

Tarek Robbiati, Group Managing Director, Telstra International Group, said “From boardroom meetings to collaboration between regional teams, Telstra Global Telepresence service encourages a more agile and flexible business practice.

“The benefits of Telstra GlobalTelepresence and video conferencing also go beyond this – for example helping to reduce the expense and carbon footprint impact associated with travel such as airfares, hotels and car services. Video conferencing solutions that are built on a high-capacity, high-availability and geographically diverse underlying network infrastructure, allow Quality of Service and the scalability that businesses require across the globe. With the support of Telstra International’s state-of-the-art GlobalNext IP™ network, Telstra Global Telepresence solution meets this requirement with the flexibility to suit enterprises’ individual needs.”

Telstra International’s relationship with Cisco ensures that local Cisco TelePresence specialists are available to conduct room readiness audits and network assessments to maximise the performance of the service. On-site training is also available to familiarise customers with the Telstra Global Telepresence solution and 24/7 service support can be provided via Telstra International’s Video Conferencing Support Centre.
