CipherTrust Cloud Key Manager further simplifies encryption key management with

consistent support across Microsoft Azure and Azure Stack

San Jose, CALIF. – March 4, 2019 – Thales, a leader in critical information systems, cybersecurity and data security, announces support for Microsoft Azure Stack with its CipherTrust Cloud Key Manager, allowing enterprises to simply and efficiently protect and manage the encryption keys used to secure their sensitive data across Microsoft Azure Key Vault, Azure Stack Key Vault and other cloud environments.

As organizations embrace cloud transformation, moving sensitive and regulated workloads to the cloud, they are increasingly deploying encryption to secure that data, and satisfy compliance requirements. Thales CipherTrust Cloud Key Manager enables organizations to manage all their encryption keys using a single platform –across single-cloud or multi-cloud environments – removing the complexity often associated with managing encryption keys.

Organizations using Azure Stack to create multi-cloud environments can now centralize the management of all their Azure keys, including those generated via Azure and Azure regional clouds.

Tina Stewart, vice president of market strategy at Thales eSecurity says:

“Our customers have big ambitions for their cloud transformation and can rely on Thales to deliver flexible security solutions that secure critical data with the highest levels of assurance, in a single or multi-cloud environment. CipherTrust Cloud Key Manager puts control in the hands of enterprises rightfully concerned about the compliance and data protection challenges. Through an easy-to-use web interface, organizations can simply create, rotate and backup keys in a growing list of cloud providers.”

Sean Pike, program vice president, security products, IDC says:

“Public cloud infrastructure providers have architected their key management services to enable customers to maintain control of cryptographic keys and digital certificates.* This appeals to organizations desiring a separation of management of keys and data for encryption at rest. With bring your own key (BYOK), organizations generate their own keys on-premises and can store the master data encryption keys in the cloud infrastructure provider’s key management service (KMS). Third party KMS offerings show promise in easing complexity, and these services may provide enough detachment from cloud providers to attract organizations averse to native cloud encryption services.”

Natalia Mackevicius, director, Azure Stack, Microsoft says:
“Security is a key pillar of Microsoft’s cloud strategy and we continue to make investments to provide our customers with more options in securing their cloud assets and infrastructures. Managing keys across diverse locations is complex and Thales CipherTrust Cloud Key Manager solves this problem by giving customers a single pain of glass to discover, manage and monitor their encryption keys across Microsoft Azure, Office 365 and now Azure Stack as well as other locations.”

CipherTrust Cloud Key Manager is a SaaS-based or on-premises solution that streamlines multi-cloud BYOK use cases for a growing list of leading cloud vendors. In addition to supporting Azure Stack, this version also supports all the latest Salesforce keys.
