The smallest 13-inch notebook in the world with a brilliant infinity display – the Dell XPS 13 from DCC

Small in stature but big on power, features and functionality, the new Dell XPS 13 from distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC) is the smallest 13-inch notebook currently available. Featuring an 11-inch display in a 13-inch sized laptop casing, the XPS 13 is the edge of innovation. The difference lies in the unique, virtually borderless infinity display, which enables more screen real estate while taking up less space while delivering crystal clear viewing. The XPS 13 is available in a touch screen model with the latest 5th generation Intel Core i7 processor, or a non-touch screen model with an i5 processor. Weighing in at just over a kilogram, the XPS 13 offers powerful performance with unprecedented mobility in an ultra-compact shell.

“The innovation behind the XPS 13 is the ultra-thin bezel, measuring just 5.2mm on top and both sides. This super thin frame means that more screen display can be fitted into a smaller body, with practically borderless viewing – a technology Dell calls the infinity display. The display also features UltraSharp Quad HD+ (High Definition) with 5.7 million pixels for super HD, precise and clear images. In addition, it features 170-degree views with IPS wide viewing angles, high contrast ratio and superior colour for ultimate viewing clarity,” says Terence Narayanan, Dell Consumer Product Specialist at DCC.

The XPS 13 also features industry-leading battery life, with more than 15 hours of run time off a single charge and up to seven hours of additional battery life with the optional Dell Power Companion. Solid State Drives (SSD) and Intel Rapid Start Technology enable the XPS 13 to boot in a matter of seconds. A backlit keyboard provides illuminated keys, so users can operate in low and no light scenarios, and an improved precision touchpad delivers improved performance, incorporating familiar touch screen gestures such as pinch to zoom and panning.

The XPS 13 is designed to handle the movement of everyday mobility. It is crafted from premium materials including machined aluminium for strength and durability, and features a top cover and base precision cut from a single block of aluminium. A carbon fibre palm rest provides the strength of aluminium while remaining cool to the touch. For added strength, the edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass on the display is bonded to the aluminium display back. Security features include encryption (available via volume licensing), Dell Data Protection, BitLocker Data Encryption with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 on vPro configurations, and optional Computrace, Configuration Services such as Static Image, BIOS settings, Asset Tagging and Reporting.

“In addition, the XPS 13 is designed with the environment in mind, avoiding materials of concern including cadmium, lead, hexavalent chromium, mercury and some phthalates. Packaging is recyclable and compost-friendly, and the notebook is also ENERGY STAR 6.1 qualified and EPEAT Gold registered,” Narayanan concludes.

The Dell XPS 13 is available immediately from selected resellers. For more information visit www.drivecon.net.
