New USB Stick range added with UHS-I microSD & SD offerings

IFA, Berlin, 1st September 2011Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced that it will introduce a range of Ultra High Speed I (UHS-I) micro SDHC cards that will be available through the retail channel during the fourth quarter of 2011. The company is also adding a new capacity UHS-I SD card to its family and increasing the performance specifications of its ultra high capacity SDXC memory cards. Additionally, Toshiba is unveiling its new family of USB memory sticks, which feature a completely new package design.

Enabling the growing demand for data storage in portable devices, Toshiba offers an extensive line-up of digital media storage solutions such as SDXC, SDHC, microSD and microSDHC memory cards and USB Flash drives in a wide range of densities. Typical host devices include HD digital still and video cameras, audio players, portable and desktop computers and smartphones.

SDXC Performance Increases

Toshiba was the first company to launch a 64GB SDXC memory card and has now increased its performance to achieve a write speed of 45MByte/s and read speed of 95MByte/s. SDXC cards, which can support up to 2TB capacity, are aimed at applications that require high speed data transfer such as recording of full HD still images and movies and high speed continuous shooting for digital still images. The range of SDHC , microSDHC, and SDXC UHS-I retail cards will be branded Premiugate™ to allow consumers to easily identify the fastest cards available.

Ultra High Speed for Retail Channel

Toshiba was also first to launch a range of products compliant with UHS-I, the ultra high speed interface capable of handling data rates as high as 80MB/s write speed and 95MB/s read speed. During Q4 2011 it will roll out the microSDHC UHS-I range through its retail channels throughout Europe. The range includes microSDHC cards in 4, 8 and 16GB capacities with a read speed up to 40MB/s and a write speed up to 20MB/s. In the same period Toshiba is also introducing a 16GB SDHC UHS-I card featuring a read speed up to 95MB/s and a write speed up to 45MB/s.

New USB Memory Stick Design

In addition to the changes in its card families, Toshiba has also completely redesigned its range of USB stick Flash memories. The compact, stylish, white housings contain drives with capacities of 4, 8, 16, 32 or 64 GB. They continue Toshiba’s tradition of delivering a combination of performance and reliability as befits the inventor of Flash memory technology.

The products will be featured at IFA 2011 in Berlin, Germany, from September 2.
