Chairman and co-founder of Television Systems Ltd. and TSL Professional Products Ltd.,David MacGregor, was made an honorary member of the International Association of Business Manufacturers (IABM) at its annual awards ceremony during IBC 2012.

The Honorary Membership was awarded in recognition of MacGregor’s outstanding contribution to the broadcast and media technology supply industry and his long-standing commitment and support of the IABM.

“There are very few people over the years that have received the accolade of Honorary Membership of the IABM and none more deserving than David”, said Peter White, Director General of the IABM. “His passion for both the industry and the IABM is inspiring to those of us who follow in his footsteps.”

MacGregor has been on the committee of the IABM since its inception back in the 1970’s and became a director on its incorporation in 1998. He took over as chairman in 2001 and, having completed this stint, he’s been a key member of the board of the IABM ever since.

“I’m incredibly proud to be presented with Honorary Membership for an organization, such as the IABM, that has been at the forefront of the broadcast industry’s evolution and success”, commented David MacGregor. “It’s enormously fulfilling to be involved in such a dynamic and exciting industry and I count myself lucky to have been able to play a small part in its direction over the years.”

Early in his career, MacGregor worked at British entertainment powerhouse EMI where he gained a varied and valuable apprenticeship in a variety of EMI departments.

MacGregor then went on to serve in senior engineering roles for the likes of Thames TV, Grampian TV, Oman TV and Yorkshire Television. In 1982, he became Chief Engineer of Seltech International Ltd.

He co-founded systems integration company, Television Systems Ltd. (TSL) in 1986 with Brian Cuff, which has since become a leading SI in the broadcast industry, providing expertise in the design, consultancy, and installation of TV facilities across the globe. TSL Professional Products Ltd. was formed later drawing off over two decades of TSL’s international systems integration experience to develop and deliver a range of top-quality products that meet the needs of today’s broadcasters and has established itself as a leading broadcast equipment manufacturer.  MacGregor is now Chairman of TSL Holdings Ltd.

MacGregor’s involvement in the industry extends to standards committees and organisations. He is a member of the Royal Television Society, SMPTE and the IBC Exhibition committee.

Only a hand-full of industry figures have been awarded IABM Honorary membership, including Peter Owen, Martin Salter, Lyle Keys and Alan Brill.
