TTG Announces Second Strategic Acquisition in Nine Months

Team Telecom Group acquires wireless expert Red-M as it continues its global growth strategy

DERBY (7 MARCH 2012) – Sunday Times Deloitte “Fast Track 100” ranked, Global communications specialist Team Telecom Group (TTG) today announced its second strategic acquisition in just nine months, with the company acquiring wireless technology expert Red-M as it continues to expand its specialist communications and infrastructure technologies capabilities into key mission critical environments.

Red-M will now join TTG’s Technology and Consultancy Services Group (TACS), which incorporates C&C Technology, (acquired in May 2011), and Air Radio, ensuring it delivers the most compelling specialist proposition around mobility, communication and infrastructure solutions to its markets, including Aviation, Transport, Finance, Corporate, Public Sector and beyond, both locally and internationally.

The deal is the latest step in TTG’s ambitious growth plans for the UK and overseas, with the company expanding its presence across Australasia and the Middle East, and opening a new office in San Diego, USA.  With 51% of the Group’s business now coming from international sales, TTG is also targeting further acquisitions on both sides of the Atlantic.

Mike Norfield, CEO of TTG, says: “The acquisition of Red-M is an exciting development for TTG and a key part of our strategy to build a specialist mobility and infrastructure technology business through our Technology and Consultancy Services Group.  Red-M is renowned across the industry as an expert in its field, and the specialism it brings in terms of a broad range of wireless technologies, system design and planning ideally complements the operations of Air Radio and C&C Technology, giving us unrivalled reach across key sectors such as aviation and beyond.”

A wireless communications expert, Red-M delivers leading-edge consultancy, systems integration and network services and solutions across all of the major wireless and mobility technologies, including (2G, 3G, 4G/LTE, low-power) cellular, Wi-Fi, WiMax, Microwave, TETRA, DMR and PMR.

Its experience and reputation has seen Red-M manage high profile wireless projects including Wembley Stadium, Heathrow Airport and with International Telecom Regulators, as well as operating in mission critical environments such as aviation and the emergency services both in the UK and, increasingly,  internationally.

Andrew Waters, Executive Director of Red-M, will stay on as Business Development Director, working with Jason Colombo, Managing Director of TACS, to co-ordinate operations across the group.

Jason Colombo, says: “We have worked closely with Red-M over the years and know the quality of service and expertise they now bring to the TACS group.  The acquisition of C&C Technology earlier last year into TTG paved the way for this next stage in our development, bringing together the full range of consultative, design, planning, implementation and product expertise around mobility, wireless and IT infrastructure within the group.  Nobody is able to deliver mobility and infrastructure technologies like us.  This truly sets us apart from the competition.”

Mike adds: “Since the MBO last year our focus has been on strengthening our operations through organic growth, acquisitions, and investment in cutting edge R&D.  The results of this are already being seen, with international sales up 38%.  With the successful integration of C&C Technology and Red-M into our operations, we are well placed for further expansion over the coming 12 months, both in the UK and overseas.”

TTG underwent a £32.8m management buyout in May 2010, backed by Gresham Private Equity and HSBC.  It now comprises six complementary businesses – radio communications specialists Team Simoco and ComGroup, which form Simoco Group; AirRadio, C&C Technology and Red-M, which form the Technology & Consultancy Services Group; and Indigo Telecom Group.
