Selects Nokia Siemens Networks to implement world’s first all-IP HSPA+ network running IPv6 and Direct Tunnel

Tusmobil d.o.o. is expanding its 3G network to provide peak rates of up to 21 megabits per second (Mbps) to customers. The operator is simplifying its network and improving its coverage by migrating to an all-IP, HSPA+ network on the 900 MHz frequency band. The Slovenian operator has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to implement the expansion with its award-winning Flexi Multiradio Base Station, FlexiPacket Microwave and complete IP-backhaul platform.

“With this network expansion, we will be able to integrate our voice, data, and video services, and rapidly rollout interesting and innovative services for our customers, further improving their satisfaction,” said Matjaz Savodnik, chief executive officer of Tusmobil d.o.o. “Moreover, our partnership with Nokia Siemens Networks has time and again helped us maintain our energy commitments by reducing network power consumption while expanding our business cost efficiently.”

Nokia Siemens Networks is responsible for the supply, deployment and integration of the operator’s IP-network. Under the scope of the three-year deal, it will implement the Radio Access Network (RAN) based on its award-winning Flexi Multiradio Base Station and FlexiPacket Microwave across the country. This will reduce the operator’s operational costs, improve energy efficiency, and enhance coverage quality and reach.Nokia Siemens Networks will also provide network implementation services including construction works, as well as care services for the operator. In addition, it will provide network optimization and management solutions based on its NetAct system.

“This is a landmark project, since it marks the complete shift to an all-IP network including IPv6 and Direct Tunnel for the first time in the world,” said Fotios Samelis, account manager from Nokia Siemens Networks. “We are providing a highly customized solution to Tusmobil based on our deep understanding of its business, vision and targets. Our cost-effective implementation will provide significant scalability and speed to the operator’s network, addressing its immediate needs.”
