UKFast Joins GCloud
Hosting and cloud firm UKFast has been chosen to become part of the government’s G-Cloud iii framework.
GCloud iii is the latest phase of the GCloud programme that aims to diversify government supplier lists by easing the way for SMEs to pitch for tenders.
UKFast has been selected as a supplier of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) highlighting the firm’s position as a leading provider of IT services in the UK.
Lawrence Jones, CEO at the hosting and colocation firm said: “The G-Cloud programme has opened the doors for smaller firms to provide services for the public sector bringing much needed and overdue competition to this market.
“To be selected as part of the programme is a tremendous achievement for UKFast which cements our position as one of the top IT, hosting and cloud providers in the country.”
G-Cloud has received massive investment from the government in recent years and is expected to become the primary public sector framework going forward.
UKFast is one of Europe’s fastest-growing technical companies as ranked by Deloitte and the Sunday Times Tech Track. Last year CEO Lawrence Jones was named Ernst & Young North Technology Entrepreneur of the Year 2012, while his team collected the ‘Special Assignment’ Team of the Year at the DatacenterDynamics EMEA Awards 2012. In addition to winning the Data Centre Solutions Awards Private Cloud of the Year, UKFast was named the 7th best medium-sized workplace in the UK and 31st in Europe by the Great Place to Work Institute.
UKFast also celebrated the opening of the company’s data centre complex, MaNOC 5, 6, and 7 which alongside the firm’s first wholly-owned and managed facility MaNOC 4. Previous accolades include being named the ISPA UK’s Best Hosting Provider four years consecutively, EN Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 and the GM Chamber Award for Innovation. UKFast has over 400,000 web domains on its network and over 4,000 clients across all industries. Clients include Virgin, Microsoft and UKTV. UKFast is a founding-member of the Cloud Industry Forum.
