UNLOCKING VALUE FROM NETWORKS THE KEY THEME AT ICIN 2013

Global telco thought leaders debate developing smarter networks at Venice event

The future of real-time communications and the transformation of telco networks are the two main themes of this year’s ICIN conference, which is taking place next month at the Telecom Italia Future Centre in Venice.

Founded in 1989, the ICIN series of conferences bring together leading telecoms and internet experts from across the industry worldwide, with a strongly focused event around addressing intelligence in next generation networks.

The Venice event opening day keynotes on October 15 reflect the pedigree of the event, with Roberto Minerva of Telecom Italia talking about leveraging cultural heritage through ICTs; Ulf Olsson of Ericsson talking about Architecture Evolution; Juan Velasco of Aiuken addressing security issues in Cloud and Mobile and NTT’s Naoki Uchida presenting on strategies for introducing new network services.

Preceding the opening day of the conference, ICIN has also organised two highly topical tutorials. They are entitled, Network Functions Virtualization Demystified and WebRTC and Carrier Network: a Technical Overview and Market Context. The NFV tutorial is led by Dr Igor Faynberg and Dr Hui-Lan Lu of Alcatel-Lucent, while Dean Bubley of Disruptive Analysis and Tim Panton of Tropo will manage the WebRTC sessions. Following these tutorials, there will be a welcome reception sponsored by the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), Platinum Patrons of the conference.

“There are many critical issues up for discussion in our industry at the moment and the timing for ICIN this year could not be better,” said Dr Stuart Sharrock, Chairman of the ICIN International Advisory Board.

“We are already seeing tremendous interest in the pre-conference tutorials, while the conference agenda is in the true ICIN tradition covering a wide spectrum of interests addressing both technical and business issues”.

The ICIN conference programmes are created by an independent committee of industry experts from papers submitted by leading strategists, engineers and researchers from industry, academia and government. A rigorous peer review process guarantees a cutting edge conference programme free of hype.
