UTuneMe launches to bring broadcasters closer to consumers

Smartphone technology harnessed to offer targeted audio advertising

Helsinki, 21 November 2012. UTuneMe, a new audio advertising platform by Finnish mobile technology company Exaget that replaces traditional audio advertising with smarter geo-targeted content, will be talking to potential customers, partners and investors at the Slush event in Helsinki. UTuneMe is opening for business with the commercial launch of it’s free app on Android at the beginning of December, swiftly followed by iPhone at the beginning of 2013.

Founded by an experienced team who previously worked together at Nokia, Exaget now offers broadcasters the capability of reaching customers around the world with personalised news, traffic, weather and deals based on location and customer demographic – widening and deepening broadcaster’s relationship with listeners.

With 835 million smartphone users worldwide*, and global internet usage expected to double by 2015**, smartphones increasingly provide greater context about the world around us. 61% of smartphone users make local searches from a device***, and studies have shown that mentioning a location in an ad or search result increases click-through rates by 200%****.

UTuneMe will bring broadcasters and advertisers into this ecosystem with:

  • Live geo- and demographic-targeted content distribution for real-time engagement.
  • The ability to reach global markets with locally targeted advertising.
  • A self-service platform for creating, uploading, and launching campaigns.
  • Full control with a data analytics toolbox to optimise campaigns, choose preferences, and track results.

Exaget CEO Shankar Meembat said “UTuneMe provides broadcasters with an incredible opportunity to increase their relevance to consumers and drive ROI for advertisers. Our technology is currently being piloted by some key broadcasters with a view to offering smart, targeted content in the near future.

For too long, audio has been stuck in the past, while the smartphone revolution has happened around it. UTuneMe helps broadcasters make sense of this information to provide better and more relevant content. Soon, broadcasters will be delivering personalised content to their listeners, wherever they are in the world.”
