Violin Memory’s vision for Enterprise class flash Storage sees
10x growth
in EMEA

AlwaysOn Company of the year sees massive interest in unlocking performance constraints of enterprise applications, from ERP, CRM, BI, DW to Client Virtualisation (VDI)

Violin Memory, provider of the world’s fastest and most scalable Memory Arrays, has just announced an 10x quarter on quarter growth in EMEA sales.

Both revenues and on-site customer POCs (Proof Of Concept) have exploded into multi-million euro opportunities in the last two quarters. This growth has been matched by the investment and recruitment of its EMEA field sales operation. By year-end Violin will have 20 field sales employees & delivery capability in UK & Ireland, Austria, Germany, France, Nordics and Benelux, with additional resource, expected to reach 50 in 2012, to support the remaining EMEA territories.

The company, with EMEA headquarters in Camberley, UK, has challenged the industry to dramatically increase application performance by 10x and simultaneously reduce their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by 90%.

“We’ve physically demonstrated to customers how our new flash memory array based solutions can dramatically reduce data storage operating costs, whilst delivering levels of performance that until now have been wishful thinking. Every large enterprise is searching for a non-disruptive, high performance enterprise class solution to their application bottlenecks, consequently we’re flat out servicing that demand,” said Garry Veale, EMEA MD, at Violin Memory.

“The application performance bottlenecks, caused by high latency and I/O restrictions of traditional Fiber Channel based arrays, are found in a variety of enterprise applications (e.g. Enterprise Resource Planning, CRM and in-house On-line Transaction Processing applications, Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) across all large enterprises. Particular interest is coming from Financial Services, Telco, media, entertainment, Retail/distribution, Gaming and on-line ‘real time’ markets. As the need for real time capability grows exponentially, the need for high performance and low latency platforms is exploding. Our message around a highly available, high performing, low latency platform, underpinned with a game changing TCO, is being well received by the EMEA market,” comments Garry Veale, EMEA MD, at Violin Memory.

Violin Memory’s sells via HP and partner networks throughout EMEA and is looking to build on its current team by hiring sales, pre-sales executives and both database and solution consultants. Its portfolio of Enterprise Class Flash Memory Arrays offers 10x application performance improvements i.e. up to 10 million IOPS and 40 GB/sec of bandwidth in an industry standard rack, allowing applications to perform up to 5x faster while reducing both physical and carbon footprints and power consumption by 90%.

Violin Memory is pioneering the future of Flash memory in the enterprise data center with Memory Arrays that accelerate business critical applications and enable enterprises to virtualize and optimize their IT infrastructures. Specifically designed for sustained performance with high reliability, Violin’s Memory Arrays scale to hundreds of terabytes and millions of IOPS with low, spike-free latency. Founded in 2005, Violin Memory is headquartered in Mountain View, California. For more information about Violin Memory products, visit www.vmem.com.

Violin 6000 Series arrays offer 100% hot-swap capability and single system/3U enclosure performance in excess of one million IOPS with 4 GB/sec. of bandwidth. This performance density allows Violin Memory to deliver over 10 million IOPS and 40 GB/sec. of bandwidth in an industry standard rack. In addition to the 6000 series of Flash Memory Arrays, Violin has extended the 3000 Series with the addition of the 3220, doubling the maximum capacity to 20 terabytes (TB). The new Violin 3000 and 6000 systems provide the highest availability flash Memory Arrays in the industry without compromising performance.
