– Tellabs analytics solution helps improve user experience

DUBLIN, Dec. 13, 2012 – As people rely more on the mobile Internet, the value of a near-perfect user experience grows. Service providers continually invest in resources to provide the highest quality of service. However, there is a valuable resource hidden within networks that can improve customers’ experiences — the networks’ own data.

Vodafone Ireland is deploying Tellabs® Insight Analytics(SM) Services to analyze the network data contained in its multi-vendor 3G mobile network. The service provider will use the information to optimize network performance and provide a higher quality of service. It will also enable Vodafone Ireland to perform capacity management and root-cause analysis quicker and more cost-effectively.

“By analyzing the data generated by our own network, we will have the ability to view the bigger picture and take action on correlated information that has the highest impact on customer quality of experience,” said Kevin O’Neill, Head of Transmission Planning and Network Engineering, Vodafone Ireland. “With Tellabs’ Insight Analytics Services, Vodafone Ireland will be able to troubleshoot network issues faster. This will help us prevent network outages and provide adequate bandwidth capacity to our customers when and where they need it.”

Unique approach to network analytics
Using a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) approach to analytics, the Tellabs Insight Analytics(SM)Services gain a comprehensive view of service performance from network behavioral patterns over time. Using this approach, Tellabs makes analytics simple for service providers by taking care of the underlying technology. Tellabs enables the service provider to focus on using the information to improve their network.

“As networks evolve from TDM to IP and 3G to LTE, service providers are faced with increasing challenges in providing outstanding network performance,” said Scott Forbes, vice president, Global Services at Tellabs. “With our global expertise in mobile networks, Tellabs provides a competitive and unique analytics solution that helps our customers continue to succeed. We are proud to work with Vodafone Ireland to help them solve some of the challenges they face in providing a high-quality user experience.”
