Volta Data Centre welcomes The SPN Alliance as a new dark fibre network provider

The SPN Alliance to offer their member networks dark fibre connectivity from Volta’s Great Sutton Street facility

London, 30 June 2014 – Volta, developer and operator of central London’s newest purpose-designed, carrier-neutral data centre, today announced that The SPN Alliance, a network of world-class telecommunication providers, vendors, and carriers, have completed the installation of their dark fibre connectivity into Volta’s Great Sutton Street (GSS) data centre.

The SPN Alliance already deployed a large scale fibre network across key data centre locations in London and the addition of Volta GSS to this network offers The SPN Alliance members additional connectivity options. As part of a mutually owned membership organisation for service provider networks, each SPN Alliance member has unique telecoms requirements and a presence at Volta’s GSS facility will increase their connectivity choices, in line with their specific requirements and industries they operate in.

Located in central London and easily accessible for business requiring a choice of connectivity in the heart of the city in order to expand their domestic and global footprint, Volta GSS works with a growing number of the world’s leading carriers. The addition of the SPN Alliance further enhances Volta GSS’ ultra-fast and resilient connectivity, currently with a total of 19 connectivity providers on site, 9 of which bring their own diverse fibre links to the building.

David Simmons, COO of The SPN Alliance said: “When planning for our latest fibre roll-out, Volta GSS was an ideal choice for deployment for us. With its high density power infrastructure and proximity to the City of London, Volta GSS will be an extremely useful co-location facility for our members and their clients.”

Matthew Dent, CEO of Volta commented: “We are delighted that The SPN Alliance is now running their fibre into our Great Sutton Street facility. The addition of The SPN Alliance network to our growing list of Tier 1 carriers will offer our customers real choice of low-latency connectivity to both the UK and global markets.”
