August 24, 2017: According to a new report published today, VoLTE service is available on 123 LTE and LTE-Advanced networks, and is exactly 20% of all 615 commercially launched LTE networks worldwide.
The VoLTE feature allows voice calling over LTE networks for users with compatible devices.
The VoLTE Service Launches Worldwide report published today by Hadden Telecoms Ltd confirms that VoLTE voice calling service is now available in 60 countries and present in all regions. The report’s author, Alan Hadden, Director, said: “VoLTE technology delivers not only an enhanced voice calling experience for users with compatible devices, but also underpins other new and valued services including video calling (ViLTE) and WiFi Calling (VoWiFi).”
The report found that a further 74 LTE operators are understood to be planning, deploying or trialling VoLTE technology on their networks. Taken together with the 123 commercial service launches reported here, it means 197 operators are investing in VoLTE-related activities in 85 countries.
