Westcon Group Names Chris Ranger Vice President EMEA Services

– Underscores Commitment to Premier Value-Added Service Offerings Across Unified Communications, Network Infrastructure and Security

TARRYTOWN, New York, Feb. 7, 2013 – Westcon Group, a value-added distributor of category-leading unified communications, network infrastructure, data center, and security solutions with a global network of specialty resellers, today announced the company has named Chris Ranger Vice President of Services for EMEA. The appointment underscores a heightened commitment to delivering consistent, premier value-added services across the company’s lines of business – including its Cisco-dedicated business unit, Comstor.

Ranger brings to Westcon more than 25 years of experience in executive service leadership across a range of high technology industries. Formerly with Intermec Technologies, he led transformation of the company’s services business from an in-house repair operation to successful outsourced model. He was directly responsible for building Intermec’s profitable services business in EMEA with a core focus on partner strategies and consistency.

In his new role, Ranger is responsible for services across the unified communications, network infrastructure and security business practices. He is tasked with formalizing the company’s services model and execution – including training, post-sales support and technical audit services.

“We’re well aware that partner success is based on much more than a strong vendor portfolio. Partners require a distributor with varied services that support their offerings,” said Jeremy Butt, Westcon Executive Vice President of EMEA. “Chris will be instrumental to helping us broaden and further evolve our services strategy in EMEA.”

Westcon offers a full range services – from global procurement to executive selling — helping partners streamline business and build new revenue streams. The company’s Global Procurement Services (GPS) manages the complex aspects of international warehousing, shipping, import/export and integration. An industry first, Westcon’s Executive Relevance Selling (ERS) is a strategic marketing and sales enablement program designed to create qualified Cisco proposals at the executive level. These services — along with smart logistics capabilities and reverse logistics offerings — are designed to augment, not compete, with the capabilities of Westcon partners.

Noted Andreas Dohmen, Comstor Executive Vice President of EMEA: “While typically a strength for Westcon, changing market dynamics mandates we adapt and grow our services model. With deep expertise leading some of the market’s best global services strategies, Chris is the perfect fit to make this happen.”

Prior to Intermec, Ranger held senior positions at Stratus Technologies, Siemens, Colt Telecom and Motorola Enterprise Mobility. In his new role, Ranger reports directly to Jeremy Butt and Andreas Dohmen.

“Westcon offers one of the strongest vendor portfolios in specialty distribution. But a strategic partner must also go the extra mile in terms of capabilities that augment our partners’ services,” said Chris Ranger, Westcon Vice President of Services in EMEA. “My track-record in designing and executing a broad range of services strategies will help Westcon take its leadership reputation to the next level.”
