WISI multiswitch series FLEXSWITCH sets new standards for the entry level market

Diversity and efficiency: 28 different multiswitches for the efficient setup and extension of high performing SAT-IF reception and distribution systems

Niefern-Öschelbronn, December 1, 2016 WISI Communications GmbH & Co. KG (WISI) launches with its series FLEXSWITCH a new family of multiswitches for cost-effective SAT-IF distributions. It is distinguished by its diversity, flexibility and convincing price performance ratio. The series consists of 28 terrestrial active and passive multiswitches for the stand-alone operation with Quad-LNB support, or the operation of TV distribution systems independently of power supply and the development of cascades. All multiswitches have a high screening efficiency according to Class A. Some of the most convincing features include low insertion loss, a compact design, an installation friendly distance between F-connectors, as well as colour coded inputs and outputs. Line amplifiers for multiswitch cascades, splitters and accessories such as a power inserter, the optional power supply DRP 1533 for the DRC multiswitches, and DRA amplifiers, complete the new FLEXSWITCH series.

DRR type: receiver powered multiswitches minimise operating costs

With the three receiver powered DRR multiswitches, WISI addresses the owners of single-family and two-family houses. The DRR multiswitches offer many benefits to the operator. As the LNB and the multiswitch are powered by the switch voltage of the receiver, they are only in operation if the receiver is in the On mode. This minimises the operational costs for the operator. Moreover, the multiswitch can be installed without any space restrictions in the home, because it has no power supply and does not require a power connection.

Commercially available DVB-S/S2 set-top-boxes or TVs with an integrated receiver can be used at the respective eight (DRR 0508, 0908) and 16 subscriber outputs (DRR 0516), and receive signals from one or two satellites. Inserted terrestrial signals such as DVB-T/T2, DAB or FM are available at each subscriber output as well. Through the passive terrestrial path also multimedia services such as – “LAN over Coax-” or signals from a headend systems can be fed in.

DRS type: stand-alone multiswitches for up to 32 subscriber outputs

The five stand-alone type DRS multiswitches with integrated power supply are perfectly suitable for the setup and extension of small distribution systems for TV signals from one satellite in small housing complexes. Through the support of Quad LNBs with integrated multiswitches, already existing systems can be used and extended from so far four subscribers to up to 32 subscribers without any additional installation costs for a Quattro-LNB.

The five stand-alone DRS multiswitches have five inputs for the distribution of four satellite polarisations and terrestrial signals. Depending on the model, up to 32 subscriber outputs (DRS 0508, DRS 0512, DRS 0516, DRS 0524 und DRS 0532) are available. The active terrestrial path enables the distribution of terrestrial signals without an additional amplifier.

Type DRC: Cascade multiswitches in many variants

The FLEXSWITCH type DRC with a total of 20 different multiswitches provides a wide variety for the supply of medium-sized and large-sized housing complexes. These multiswitches are perfect for one, two, three or four satellites, and depending on the model have up to 32 subscriber outputs. The LNB power supply is secured by previously installed amplifiers or the optional available power supply DRP 1533. This power supply allows for operation in all DRC cascade multiswitches – also in a stand-alone version.

The 5‘ multiswitches DRC 0508, DRC 0512, DRC 0516, DRC 0524 and DRC 0532, have five inputs for the distribution of one satellite and terrestrial signals, and 32 subscriber outputs. The polarisations are available at five cascade outputs for the installation of additional multiswitches. Thanks to the active terrestrial path of these multiswitches, no additional amplifier is needed for the insertion of DVB-T/T2 signals.

The 9‘, 13‘ and 17‘ DRC cascade multiswitches offer the operators of TV supply systems very flexible options for providing connected subscribers with TV and radio channels via two, three or four different satellite positions and one terrestrial antenna. Depending on the type, the polarisations are available at 9, 13 or 17 cascade outputs for further multiswitches. These DRC multiswitches are available in variants ranging from eight to 32 subscriber outputs. Through the passive terrestrial path of these multiswitches, it is possible also to feed in multimedia services such as – “LAN over Coax” – or signals from headend systems.

Line amplifiers, splitters and additional accessories

The FLEXSWITCH series offers two line amplifiers for multiswitch cascades for one (DRA 5120) or two (DRA 9120) satellites. They are equipped with four and eight SAT inputs and outputs respectively, and one terrestrial input and output, and can be operated remote-powered. The gain can be individually adjusted at each input in the range of 5…20 dB, in order to compensate differences in level between the individual polarisations.

Also, two-way splitters for multiswitch cascades are available: DRX 5002 (Inputs: 4xSAT and 1xTERR, Outputs: 8xSAT and 2xTERR) for one satellite and DRX 9002 (Inputs: 8xSAT and 1XERR, Outputs: 16xSAT and 2xTERR) for two satellites. The power feed DC DRI 0210 for remote-powering of the multiswitches or amplifiers complete the series.
