In the background of increasing events happening and on line threats, CMAI and DISC Foundation are happy to announce organization of the workshop for Indian stakeholders for “Combating Crime against women and children- possible through technology and collaboration” on 2-3rd September, 2013 at India International Center, New Delhi. This is first of its kind in India to address this issue with expert speakers across the globe lined up as below, who will discuss the issue and suggest appropriate strategies and roadmap ahead on the subject. The DISC (Developing Internet Safe Community) Foundation is a registered NGO initiated by a set of IT professionals and Social Workers from various parts of India and Middle East.  The cyber world is inevitable to human life now. Nevertheless, there are numerous evils and traps awaiting children in it.  As the usage of this technology has grown drastically in the last couple of years, the negative elements also have increased proportionately. Under these circumstances, the DISC Foundation was formed, to address the possible threats and vulnerabilities of Cyber Technology when it collaborates with the society as a whole.

Objectives

    • Promote, develop, volunteer, implement and sponsor measures, strategies and policies for eliminating the presence and influence of apparent and inherent evil threats from the internet/digital cyber world.
    • Establish, maintain and carry on training centers, to create awareness through educational programs, campaigns, conferences, seminars and workshops for parents, teachers, psychologists, government authorities and general public; to prevent the society from all possible internet threats.
    • Develop, promote and sustain the positives aspect of cyber technology to empower human life and skills among the children and adults
    • Research and development of contents and programs for the safety of kids, young people and adults on the internet by using latest safety trends and technologies
    • Become a catalyst organization, which will work as an agency between technology and other social organizations by providing all the support of necessary safety and security measures of these technologies to these organizations

Recognition and support

    • ITU (International Telecommunication Union) a United Nation Organization has recognized DISC Foundation and enrolled as a member to their Joint Coordination Activity on Child Online Protection.  We are the first Civil Society Joining in this Consortium.
