XConnect Grows Its European Operations with the Acquisitionof Flexagon’s Assets
The acquisition expands XConnects number portability and triple-play portability capabilities in Europe’s most fragmented telecoms market
London, UK – February 5th, 2015 – XConnect, the global leader in Telephone Number Registry and Interconnect services, today announced that it has acquired the assets of Flexagon, a provider of both number and triple-play portability services in Germany.
The acquisition cements XConnect’s position as the leading provider of German portability and registry services, with a combined customer base of over 60 networks, including all major network providers in the country. Flexagon’s expertise in ‘WITA’ wholesale line or triple-play portability services adds new capabilities to XConnect’s service portfolio while expanding its reach in the German market.
“Germany is both the largest and most fragmented telecoms market in Europe with strong demand for portability services. We have had tremendous success in Germany and see this acquisition as an opportunity to expand our portfolio of services while adding further expertise in our local operations,” says Eli Katz, CEO at XConnect. “Portability services play a critical role in supporting competition in the telecoms market and we’re pleased to share these new capabilities with our global customer base.”
The acquisition builds on XConnect’s acquisition of SMSe Solutions in Germany in 2014 and reflects its commitment to streamlining portability for its service provider customers. Flexagon offers both premises and cloud-based portability services in Germany with a strong portfolio of government-focused services. As part of the deal, XConnect will acquire the assets, customers, and employees of Flexagon.
“XConnect has a track record of delivering innovative portability and registry services and we are proud to join a growing business. Our shared vision for portability and registry services will ensure a rapid integration and we look forward to supporting XConnect customers around the world,” says Dieter Birmoser of Flexagon.
XConnect has plans for further acquisitions across Europe through 2015 and will continue to grow organically and with acquisitions.
“We are committed to growing our business across Europe and we are serious about driving M&A in the European market. Our acquisition strategy is focused on positioning XConnect as not only Europe’s largest number portability and registry service provider but the best equipped and most skilled provider in the market,” says Katz. “We find the best solutions to make portability simple and seamless for our customers.”
