Hamburg, October 13, 2010 – Business network XING has been busy working on mobile offerings for its more than ten million members. The time and effort put in so far is now bearing fruit with the launch of new iPhone and BlackBerry apps available for free download from the respective app store.
The new iPhone app boasts a new design as well as a number of exciting new features such as the Mobile Handshake, where business professionals can meet up, e.g. at a trade fair, and add one another as a XING contact. All users need to do is start the app, which will then use GPS to search for other XING members nearby who also have the Mobile Handshake feature enabled, and then select the person they want to add from the list of results – and that’s it! On top of that, the iPhone app also provides XING users with a list of their contacts’ upcoming birthdays so they can wish them all the best while out and about.

Over the last few months we carried out a range of different studies and usability tests among users to determine how best to design the iPhone app. This in turn provides us with a sound basis for improving our mobile products in the future.”
