Yahoo!’s EMEA leader to highlight region’s “transformative” turnaround at top broadcaster’s event

LONDON Yahoo!’s Rich Riley will speak on the transformative turnaround that he has led in Yahoo!’s EMEA region at IBC, in Amsterdam on Thursday 8th September.

Since his appointment three years ago, Riley, the Senior Vice President and MD of the EMEA Region has taken the company’s weakest region and turned it around.  EMEA is now one of the fastest growing regions within Yahoo!, it is gaining share and growing revenue.  Riley will speak on the panel titled “Demanding Managerial Challenges” and will share the lessons from the restructuring and strategy review that he undertook following his appointment.

Rich Riley said: “The tough decisions we took to transform the region, over the last three years, have paid off – Yahoo! has a great story in EMEA.  We now have tremendous momentum with double digit revenue growth, audience at an all time high and growing display market share.  I’m looking forward to sharing our turnaround with my fellow panellists and the delegates of the Leaders’ Summit.  The IBC has a strong record of fascinating panel discussions on issues both pertinent and relevant to the industry.“

Yahoo!’s EMEA results show that the second quarter of 2011 was the fifth consecutive quarter of growth. Revenue grew 16% to $105 million and display advertising revenue grew 27% year on year.

The panel will also feature Sir Martin Sorrell and senior executives from Deloitte, Cisco and the BBC.  The panel will be chaired by veteran broadcaster and journalist, Andrew Neil.
