ZTE demonstrates expanded IoT lineup at CTIA

Solutions span several market segments and ensure enhanced connectivity for all

9 September 2015, Shenzhen, China – ZTE will demonstrate several Internet of Things (IoT) solutions at CTIA that enhance connectivity across a range of devices and help carriers, enterprises and customers stay connected and capitalise on new market opportunities. The CTIA Super Mobility 2015 event takes place September 9-10 in Las Vegas, and aims to showcase every aspect of portable technology. Through innovative IoT solutions such as those demonstrated at CTIA, ZTE’s machine-to-machine (M2M) module business has doubled in the U.S. year-over-year, and is projected to triple in 2016.

“As IoT continues to grow at a rapid pace the industry is challenged to keep up with an evolving market and to develop innovative solutions that can make work and life easier for all,” said Lixin Cheng, CEO and chairman of ZTE USA. “ZTE’s growth and continued success in IoT is based on a local ecosystem of consumers, partners and carriers, and continued diligence in developing solutions that matter most to them.”

Wi-Fi connectivity for the car

ZTE connects people around the world to develop connected life products such as the ZTE Mobley, AT&T’s first vehicle plug-in Wi-Fi hotspot and ZTE’s first product designed for the telematics space. The ZTE Mobley turns most vehicles from 1996 into a mobile hotspot. The hotspot is easy to use and supports up to five connected devices, all on AT&T’s 4G long-term evolution (LTE) network.

Installation and setup is achieved by simply plugging the ZTE Mobley directly into the vehicle’s on-board diagnostics port (OBD II) and requires no charging cables. The vehicle automatically powers the ZTE Mobley which in turn creates a Wi-Fi connection in a matter of seconds. The ZTE Mobley will be available from September 11th 2015 at AT&T stores and online at www.att.com.

Within the mobile internet market ZTE has collaborated with likeminded organisations to develop solutions such as the Gogo Inflight, the first broadband wireless network service for airplane passengers, and the ZTE Mobley.

M2M modules lead the way

The demand for real-time, always-on connectivity continues to grow. To meet demand ZTE has developed its MF206a and MC2261 M2M modules that have been used to connect a variety of devices, some of which will be demonstrated at CTIA, and enhance the way companies conduct business.

Incorporating the MF206a module:

·         The Procuro iPIMM TM – a real-time trailer management system that is a 3G fully connected telematics system for tractors and trailers that allows companies to monitor temperature, door state, route progression and reefer fuel status. Using the MF206a module from ZTE, the iPIMM TM gives fleet managers the ability to track chain of custody and verify the integrity and safety of the cargo throughout the journey, allowing companies to track deliveries efficiently, in real time.

·         Grid2020’s OptaNODE TM specifically targets the distribution transformer monitoring needs of electric utility operators. ZTE’s MF206a module the OptaNODE TM allows utility companies to pinpoint losses, accelerate outage response times and detection as well as foresee predictive maintenance needs. The OptaNODE TM allows companies to reduce operating costs and save on manpower allowing companies to streamline their workforce.

·         Bluesmart – a connected carry-on suitcase for traveling that can be tracked anywhere in the world. Using the ZTE MF206a Bluesmart, powered by 3G-connectivity, users can recover their lost bags from airlines.

Incorporating the MC2261 module:

·       USGlobalSat TR-606C is a multi-functional and economically feasible communication platform for mobile positioning applications allowing companies to track fleet location, progress and vehicle reporting. Using ZTE’s MC2261 module the TR-606C reports vehicle status to the server and allows fleet managers to connect over multiple carriers at an affordable cost.

ZTE will continue to deliver innovative and affordable M2M modules to the IoT market in order to continue to enhance connectivity solutions for clients in the U.S. and globally.

CTIA attendees can receive demonstrations of these new solutions at booth #5250 located in the M2M zone.

Enhanced connectivity for all

Unveiled earlier this year, ZTE will also be demonstrating several industry first solutions including its Pre5G Base Station, the world’s first 5G product ready for commercial use, and its 4G Qcell product, the world’s first 4G active distribution solution that enables operators to offer converged networks with superior indoor performance.

CTIA attendees can receive demonstrations at the ZTE 5G Innovation Lab booth #4315.
