ZTE empowered Hutchison Drei Austria network ranks No. 1 in mobile performance

Drei, deploying ZTE’s wireless solutions, is top-ranked operator in CONNECT Magazine’s annual

network performance test in Austria

4 December 2015, Vienna – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, is pleased to announce that Hutchison Drei Austria’s network ranked top in CONNECT Magazine’s annual network performance evaluation tests for local mobile operators.

Hutchison Drei Austria, deploying ZTE’s industry-leading wireless solutions, was ranked top for voice services in Austria in the performance tests, run by CONNECT Magazine in conjunction with network optimisation company P3 Group. Drei was also ranked at top place in the data services category, together with Telekom Austria A1.

“We are proud to have built the best network for Drei,” said Ling Zhi, General Manager of ZTE Austria. “ZTE is delighted to help Drei deliver the highest-performance 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) coverage, and always provide innovation to ensure highly efficient, high quality network solutions and services.”

Each year, CONNECT Magazine works with wireless network optimisation company P3 Group to organise formal tests of mobile networks covering the German-speaking countries Austria, Germany and Switzerland (D-A-CH countries). The programme includes tests for download speeds, upload speeds and user experience. The objective is to help improve network performance across the whole region and covers the voice and data services in urban areas and on inter-city railways.

ZTE supported the overall network transformation initiative for Drei from 2010 and is the exclusive contractor for Drei’s 2G, 3G, and 4G radio access networks (RANs) and correspondent node (CNs). With this optimised network, Hutchison Drei Austria topped the network performance evaluation for the first time in 2011, and recorded another first place in 2012. The provider acquired all business operations of Orange Austria in 2013, and began the integration of the two networks and capacity expansion. This involved the large-scale rollout of its 4G network which was completed in 2015.
