ZTE launches E2E VR live solution

2 March 2017, Barcelona, Spain – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced the official release of its end to end (E2E) virtual reality (VR) live solution at Mobile World Congress 2017. Hosted by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) in Barcelona, Spain, MWC is the world’s most influential annual communications exhibition.

With the overall development of broadband and 4G/5G, the big video industry is in a period of rapid development, and VR is one of its flagship technologies. With almost 20 years of experience in the video field and continuous research into cutting-edge big video technology, ZTE officially released its E2E VR live solution, including 4 key components: VR content capture, elastic networks, a premium video platform and VR software development kits (SDK)/set-top box (STB).

At MWC, ZTE demonstrated its low-latency 2K P30 VR broadcast service based on wireless networks and wired networks, with 360-degree panorama video and mobile capture video, presented to visiting customers via VR terminals, VR mobile phone applications and STBs. The VR live solution shortens the delay to less than 2 seconds, and the new VR EPG6.0 also gives users the ultimate interactive experience.

The low-latency VR multicast solution effectively reduces the access network pressure and greatly reduces capital expenditure, and just-in-time packaging and transcoding technology ensures efficient content distribution and VR live quality. The content delivery network (CDN) supports large concurrency processing, ensuring a stable VR live experience. Fast and flexible dedicated orchestrating and a low-latency, high-bandwidth network ensures VR live stability, according to VR live requirements,

ZTE’s E2E VR live solution is now commercially available. The application scenarios are extensive and include live entertainment, VR education, VR medication and VR shopping, bringing a revolutionary video experience to users.

ZTE’s E2E VR SDK/STB solution delivers an enhanced viewing experience to homes around the world. Integrating VR decoding ability, ZTE HC100 is an advanced STB, which integrates the industry-leading super 4-core CPU and 5-core GPU to realize VR Live & VOD stream decoding and provide users with an excellent VR video experience. ZTE’s big video market share continues to lead and, as of now, has more than 90 commercial cases with a system capacity of 80 million users, as well as over 100 CDN commercial cases, with a total concurrent capacity of more than 100Tbps. ZTE launches next-generation Public Cloud RCS solution

2 March 2017, Barcelona, Spain – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, that it has launched its next-generation end-to-end (E2E) Public Cloud rich communication services (RCS) solution, which helps customers reform service deployment, service interconnection and business models.

The solution fully satisfies global operators’ requirements for rapid access, capacity expansion and functionality of the RCS service. Specifically, the solution can help small and medium-sized operators, as well as mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) rapidly deploy cloud-based RCS at low cost, and help large operators put cloud RCS into trial commercial use to initiate users.

Based on the interoperability of cloud platforms, ZTE’s Public Cloud RCS platform supports interconnection between different operators, including international branches, and can interconnect with their private RCS platforms through its RCS hub. It also achieves interconnection between operators and equipment vendors.

With the ZTE Public Cloud RCS solution, operators can develop RCS in flexible business models, including service lease, service purchase and revenue share while greatly reducing investment costs and risks.

At the event, ZTE showcased all of the Public Cloud RCS solution’s service functionalities. The solution enhances traditional SMS and MMS functions to support instant messaging, group chat, video messaging as well as file and location sharing. It also enhances the traditional call service to support voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), voice over WiFi (VoWiFi), multi-party audio/video calls as well as enriched calls.

ZTE also demonstrated its industry-first RCS set-top-box (STB) that uses RCS as the Smart Home entrance, and provides a multi-party video call function to converge with the Big Video service, thus promoting traffic consumption and monetising traffic. As Mr. Zhu Jinyun, SVP of ZTE, mentioned, RCS will be more than a Smart Home entrance, and will bring greater value to individuals, homes, governments and enterprises in the future.

Additionally, the ZTE Public Cloud RCS solution opens standard application program interface (APIs) or software development kits (SDKs) to upstream and downstream players to establish a sustainable ecosystem. At the event, ZTE announced its cooperation with Voipswitch, a world-leading VoIP solution provider. Both parties will combine technical and marketing strengths, to introduce more Internet functionalities and UI customisation capabilities to RCS to offer users richer and better experiences, looking to building up a strong ecosystem.

The GSMA’s latest data shows that the RCS service has been put into commercial use with 50 operators in 36 countries, representing up to 156 RCS native terminals. Top telecom operators such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, as well as Internet giants such as Google have been actively promoting RCS development. As Mr. Zhu said, RCS can help operators upgrade basic telecom services, unify number entrances, and open telecom capabilities, which becomes an inevitable choice for operators. As a major player in RCS, ZTE will continue to work with partners to boost RCS development.

 

ZTE leads the transformation of network performance management with RoNPM

March 2, 2017, Barcelona, Spain – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today put forward its “Revolution of Network Performance Management (RoNPM)” concept, and showcased its solutions in the RoNPM field at Mobile World Congress (MWC), Barcelona.

ZTE’s RoNPM solution collects and analyses network end-to-end data from a big-data platform to enable customer experience-oriented network assessment and value-driven network optimisation, finally completing a fully closed-loop of the end-to-end automated network optimisation process. With the innovative functional modules, such as virtual drive testing, automatic fault delimitation and localisation, as well as fast complaint handling, this solution provides a centralised and intelligent network optimisation that greatly reduces the costs of network optimisation and improves its efficiency and value.

In recent years, ZTE has been providing a RoNPM platform and service for Sichuan Telecom. With automatic root cause analysis and automatic fault-handling process management, the efficiency of network optimisation increased within half a year. The RoNPM platform uses an innovative algorithm developed by ZTE, which provides suggestions for problem resolution in a smart and fast manner. The RoNPM solution greatly saves drive testing costs and human costs each year.

At MWC, ZTE’s service products provided a rich demonstration of user experience in cloud-based operation & maintenance (O&M), operation transition and cloud-based intelligence. ZTE has signed over 228 managed service contracts worldwide, involving over 402,000 sites and 508,000 kilometres of optical outside plant (OSP) cables for O&M. ZTE is steadily improving its capabilities for managed service delivery, and serves over 350 million users across the world.

ZTE receives evaluation of metro packet optical transport leader from GlobalData

March 2, 2017, Barcelona, Spain – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that its new-generation metro packet optical transport equipment, ZXONE 9700, was rated as a “Leader” by GlobalData (formerly Current Analysis), for the second consecutive year. According to the report, ZTE’s ZXONE 9700 provides the highest switching capacity, the highest numbers of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) lines, the highest per-slot backplane capacity and the strongest 200G/400G transport capability in the class.

ZXONE 9700 is ZTE’s ultra-large cross-capacity optical transport network (OTN) equipment. It supports 100G/beyond-100G transport rate and Optical Channel Data Unit/Packet/Virtual Container (ODUk/Packet/VC) unified cross platform for “rigid/flexible pipelines and unified transport” of government and enterprise private lines. It also supports Colourless Directionless Contationless Flexgrid (CDCF) and Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) to cover all application scenarios for operators, ranging from edge aggregation layer to core backbone layer, and fully meets the requirements of transparent transport, flexible scheduling, aggregation processing and service management monitoring for mass data services.

In the 100G/beyond-100G field, ZTE also continues to create new world records. In January 2016, ZTE worked together with TMA and successfully completed a 400G transport test, refreshing the industry’s longest transport distance record. In June, ZTE created the world’s longest transport distance record over single-carrier 800G 16QAM. In July, ZTE’s 100G OTN equipment passed the VC cross test in existing networks organised by Jiangsu Telecom, and the differentiated advantages are highly recognised by the operator.
