ZTE shows impressive change in DSL revenue, shipments and market share according to Ovum

18 February 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that the company delivered a stellar performance in 3Q15. Only ZTE exhibited meaningful positive changes in digital subscriber line (DSL) market share, gaining more than 1.2 points in worldwide market share based on a rolling four quarter basis. In addition, ZTE led in Asia Pacific in terms of DSL market share on a rolling four quarter basis for the quarter ending 3Q15. Moreover, in the wireline access market, ZTE held the second biggest market share worldwide. The data comes from research firm Ovum’s 3Q15 report on fixed-network Market Share Report: 3Q15 FTTx, DSL, and cable modem termination system (CMTS).

In 2015, ZTE unveiled its M-ICT strategy with a focus on capturing new opportunities and creating value. Broadband access is an area where ZTE has traditionally excelled. The year saw steady growth in the area for ZTE thanks to innovation in products and solutions, improvement in product competitiveness, and optimisation of the global market layout.

Another fact highlighted by the Ovum report is that ZTE ranked first for Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) revenue market share, at 31 percent on a rolling four quarter basis ending 3Q15. Also on the rolling four quarter basis ending Q315, ZTE was the market share leader in Central and South America for gigabit passive optical network (GPON) optical network terminal/optical network unit (ONT/ONU).

Mr. Cai Jingzhe, Vice President at ZTE, noted that ZTE has always been a leader in optical communications. At Broadband World Forum (BBWF) 2014, ZTE introduced the industry’s first XG-PON1-based 1G-to-the-user concept and demonstrated a corresponding solution. At the 2015 BBWF event in London, ZTE showcased aits fibre-to-the-distribution point (FTTdp) solution based on NG-PON2+G.fast technology, and won the “Best Connected Home Service or Solution” and “Best Broadband Partnership” awards. In addition to maintaining a huge lead in EPON market share. To help customers simplify deployment and cut costs, ZTE recently launched a combination of PON solution integrating both GPON and XG-PON1. With the maturation and commercialisation of G.fast technology, ZTE expects to offer stronger support for operators’ broadband rollouts through its integrated solutions.
