First Chinese Company to Manufacture Windows Phone Device

27 September 2011, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions has today begun displaying its first Windows Phone, the ZTE Tania, at the PT/EXPO COMM China 2011 in Beijing.

The Tania supports HSPA+, has a multi-point touch 800×480 WVGA resolution 4.3-inch thin film transistor (TFT) screen and a 1GHZ frequency processor with 3D acceleration. It also has a 512MB cache, 4GB of flash memory, an auto focus 5-megapixel camera, WIFI and A-GPS. The device comes pre-loaded with the latest version of Windows Phone, code-named Mango, and will launch later this year in a number of European countries.

ZTE is the sole Chinese Smartphone strategic partner for Microsoft and plans to introduce additional Smartphone devices based on the Windows Phone platform in the future.

Windows Phone has a unique user interface that utilises Live Tiles, making it easy for users to connect and share with friends, family and colleagues. The operating system also delivers a fast, vivid web experience using Internet Explorer© 9 and hardware acceleration. It also connects apps to searches, making them easier to find and use.

“ZTE has had much success with its other phones and we hope to carry that over to Windows Phone with the Tania,” said Mr. He Shiyou Executive Vice President and Head of the Terminal Division of ZTE. “This new Smartphone will crystallise ZTE’s product strategy on multiple platforms while giving our customers a wider variety of OS choices.”

In addition to the Tania, ZTE also is displaying all of its smart terminals at the expo, including the first global FDD-CDMA dual-mode dual-core Smartphone, the first global TD-LTE multi-mode dual-standby smart phone, dual-core and quad-core tablet PCs and its flagship Blade and Skate Smartphone. ZTE is also showcasing several 3G application technologies and service modes at the expo, highlighting its developments in interoperability.
